To build a website providing visitors a journal and photo gallery of my first street rod project. I am a car nut and my wife calls me a computer geek. My formal education and training in architecture took a turn in the early 80's to using computers for drafting and design. I left the architectural field and landed a job in Information Technology in the mid 90's. I enjoy working with computers and designing. I am trying to marry these technologies with my true passion of cars. My goal is to build a head-turning street rod, improve my website developement skills, writing, computer generated design and rendering abilities. Stick around the fun is just beginning. |

This is our 47 Ford long door coupe, purchased in August of 2004. This will be a one to two year project to transform this car into a mild custom street rod. |

First step was disassembly this took three saturday mornings, 12 hours total. The body, doors and deck lid where sent to Redi-Clean Stripping, Inc. at 1720 Read Street in Evansville, IN (812) 424-9866. Those parts returned Dec 9, 2004. Now the work can begin. I hoped to get some pics of the body as it looked after the dipping process but I was not fast enough. If your plans include building or restoring an older rusty car consider having it dipped you won't go wrong. My good friend Keith Moritz owner and talented car builder of
Morfab Customs
301 Pine St Union, Mo. was concerned that visitors to his shop would touch the dipped body and
contaminate the metal. He primed the parts the next day, many thanks. Body modifications planned are: Late spring of 2005 is the projected date for completion of all body modifications. |

The frame found it's way home a week earlier then the body. With the body protected the next step was protecting the freshly blasted frame. Here is where my expertice came into play I can wheel a mean paintbrush and 8 hours of time. I used POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint to cover and protect the frame. This product is great. Easy to work with, tough as nails but hard to get off your skin. I am wearing the proud battle scars, paint on my fingers, for weeks to come. |
